ATEX Employee Training

  • Greater safety – drastic reduction of explosion and fire risk.
  • Legal compliance – avoiding high fines and problems with the Labour Inspectorate.
  • Health protection – knowledge that genuinely saves employees’ lives.
  • Lower costs – no emergency downtime and lower insurance premiums.
  • Informed operation – correct use of expensive equipment in hazard zones.

Why is it worth it?

  • EHS Consulting specialists have experience in risk assessment and machine guarding across various manufacturing industries.
  • We help implement solutions that comply with current national and European standards for machine safety.
  • We identify hazards, develop OHS procedures and conduct employee training.
  • By implementing our solutions, employees can safely operate machines, and the company reduces the risk of downtime and accident-related costs.
  • We always adapt solutions to the specifics of your company, the type of machines and production processes.

ATEX Training

Many industrial facilities use flammable substances such as gases, vapours of flammable liquids and combustible dusts. Under certain conditions, these can form an explosive atmosphere which, upon contact with an ignition source, can lead to an explosion and a serious risk to the life and health of employees.
This is why occupational safety regulations impose on the employer an obligation to provide employees with appropriate training on explosion hazards and ATEX safety principles.
EHS Consulting provides specialist ATEX training for employees, aimed at increasing awareness of explosion hazards and preparing personnel for safe work in environments where an explosive atmosphere may occur.

What is ATEX training?

ATEX training is a safety training course for working in an explosion-hazardous environment. Its aim is to provide employees with knowledge about:

  • formation of explosive atmospheres,
  • hazards associated with flammable substances,
  • rules for safe work in explosion hazard zones,
  • methods of explosion prevention.

The training also covers requirements arising from regulations and ATEX directives concerning the safety of employees working in explosion-hazardous zones.

The training is particularly important for persons operating technological installations, electrical equipment and production processes in which explosive atmospheres may arise.

When is ATEX employee training required?

ATEX training should be conducted in companies where there is a possibility of an explosive atmosphere forming.
This applies to facilities where the following occur, among others:

  • flammable gases,
  • vapours of flammable liquids,
  • combustible dusts,
  • oil or chemical mists.

The training also covers requirements arising from regulations and ATEX directives concerning the safety of employees working in explosion-hazardous zones.

The training is particularly important for persons operating technological installations, electrical equipment and production processes in which explosive atmospheres may arise.

ATEX Training Programme

The training programme is tailored to the specifics of the facility and the type of technological processes carried out. The training covers both a theoretical part and practical examples related to the operation of industrial installations.

The training covers, among others:

Fundamentals of explosion hazards

Training participants learn about the mechanisms of explosive atmosphere formation and the factors influencing the possibility of an explosion occurring.

Properties of flammable substances

The training includes a discussion of the physicochemical properties of substances that can form explosive atmospheres, such as gases, liquid vapours and combustible dusts.

Explosion hazard zones

The training covers the principles of explosion hazard zone classification and the meaning of markings used in industrial installations.

These include, among others:

  • Zones for gases and liquid vapours
  • Zones for combustible dusts
  • Ignition sources

Training participants learn about the most common ignition sources in industrial installations, such as:

  • electrical sparks,
  • hot surfaces,
  • electrostatic discharges,
  • mechanical sparks.

Rules for safe work in Ex zones

The training also covers organisational and technical principles relating to work in explosion-hazardous zones.

Employees learn, among others:

  • how to safely operate equipment,
  • what procedures apply at the workplace,
  • how to respond in emergency situations.

ATEX training is a safety training course for working in an explosion-hazardous environment. Its aim is to familiarise employees with the hazards associated with explosive atmospheres and the principles of safe work.

Yes. The employer is obliged to train employees who work in places where an explosive atmosphere may occur.

Training should be completed by all persons working in explosion-hazardous areas, including production workers, machine operators, maintenance staff and persons supervising technological processes.

Training should be conducted before an employee is permitted to work in an explosion hazard zone and periodically, to refresh safety rules.

The price of closed training is determined individually – please contact us. For open training, the price is PLN 100 net per person.
