Are you interested in ISO 9001?

ISO 9001 standard encompasses requirements for a Quality Management System. ISO 9001 is a widely used international standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Understanding and managing interrelated processes as a system contributes to the effectiveness and efficiency of an organization in achieving its intended results. The standard includes requirements applicable to every organization, regardless of its size or type. Implementing and maintaining a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements helps an organization ensure that its products or services comply with customer requirements, and processes are effective and continually improved.

ISO 9001 certification is voluntary and involves an audit conducted by an external certifying organization. This audit assesses the compliance of the organization’s quality management system with the requirements of ISO 9001.

Certification can be carried out by any certifying organization accredited by PCA (Polish Center for Accreditation). Information about the nearest unit can be found on the website www.pca.gov.pl in the accredited entities section or by contacting us.

The aim of ISO 9001 is to introduce continuous improvement of processes. Achieving effective management of processes and the entire quality system is possible through the application of the PDCA cycle. The main requirements of ISO 9001 include:

  • Document and record control
  • Active involvement of top management in building the quality management system
  • Implementation of a process approach
  • Implementation of a resource management system
  • Systematic measurements and their analysis
  • Analysis of customer requirements
  • Making decisions based on data and facts.

The PDCA cycle, also known as the continuous improvement cycle, can be described as follows:

  • PLAN – Define the goals of the system and its processes, determine resources, and conduct risk and opportunity analyses. Evaluate the current state of the organization and existing processes.
  • DO – Implement planned changes, create documentation, and train employees.
  • CHECK – Verify the results of implemented actions, compare them with the set goals.
  • ACT Take corrective actions, identify areas that need improvement, analyze them, and then implement actions that will prevent similar issues from occurring in the future.

ISO 9001 requires the possession of documents specified in it as “Documented Information.” Through this designation, ISO 9001 specifies that documents must be implemented and maintained by the company, including:

  • The scope of the quality management system.
  • Quality Policy.
  • Organizational objectives.
  • Criteria for the evaluation and approval of suppliers.

These documents are essential to commence operations in accordance with ISO 9001. However, there are additional provisions that are required only when the organization performs a specific process.

ISO 9001 does not dictate the form in which documentation should be maintained in the organization. Documentation should be tailored to the organization. The standard requires planning and developing processes necessary for the realization of the product according to the organization’s needs.

Yes, the ISO 9001 certificate must be renewed regularly. A successful certification audit results in obtaining the ISO 9001 certificate, which is valid for 3 years. An annual surveillance audit is also required to ensure that the quality management system is being conducted in a stable manner.

The cost of consultancy services for ISO 9001 depends on several factors, such as:

  • The size and type of the organization, including its structure and scope of activities.
  • Preparation for certification: Before embarking on the certification process, the organization may need time and resources to implement and adapt its quality management system to the requirements of ISO 9001.

Additionally, the cost of ISO 9001 certification itself should also be taken into account.
