Wastes and technological processes conducted in installations where wastes undergo processing can pose a threat to the environment. Therefore, obtaining a permit is necessary for engaging in such activities.

Waste processing involves:

Recovering secondary raw materials in production processes to obtain material for primary or other purposes (commonly known as recycling).
Disposing of wastes in technical installations (e.g., through incineration or proper storage).

Submit your application before engaging in waste processing activities.

Not longer than one month. The deadline may be extended to two months (you will be informed about it).

The permit is issued for a maximum of 10 years.

Engaging in activities related to waste processing without the required permit may result in an administrative penalty ranging from 10,000 PLN to 1 million PLN.

The Waste Act specifies who is exempt from the obligation to obtain a permit for waste processing. These include:

Individuals or non-entrepreneurial organizational units using waste for their own needs.
Entities required to obtain an integrated permit, which includes waste processing.
Entities holding a waste generation permit (covering waste collection or processing).
Property owners collecting municipal waste generated on that property.

You will not obtain a permit for waste processing, for example, when the intended waste management method:

Could pose a threat to human life or health or to the environment.
Is inconsistent with waste management plans.
Violates legal regulations, including local laws.
