According to the Labor Code, the employer is obligated to provide the necessary means for providing first aid in emergencies, as well as for firefighting and evacuating employees.
The purpose of the audit is to verify compliance with fire protection requirements for a specific facility. As part of the conducted assessment of fire safety conditions, the following are checked:
- fire protection organization,
- evacuation conditions,
- equipment with portable firefighting equipment,
- technical condition of electrical, lightning protection, and gas installations,
- storage of materials, including those fire hazardous,
- fire lanes and access to buildings,
- work that is hazardous in terms of fire safety.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FIRE PROTECTION AUDIT?
The fire protection audit is the responsibility of the building owner, manager, or user, depending on the terms of the agreement (Act of August 24, 1991, on Fire Protection).
WHAT DOES THE FIRE PROTECTION AUDIT INCLUDE?
The fire protection audit includes:
- organization of fire protection,
- evacuation conditions,
- equipment with portable firefighting equipment,
- technical condition of electrical, lightning protection, and gas installations,
- storage and handling of materials, including those fire hazardous,
- fire lanes and access to buildings,
- work hazardous in terms of fire safety.
WHAT DOES THE FIRE PROTECTION AUDIT PROVIDE?
The fire protection audit aims to check the fire protection requirements specified for a particular facility. It involves analyzing the state of fire safety in the building (equipment and installations for firefighting, evacuation conditions, and the ability to conduct rescue and firefighting operations).
The fire protection audit allows for the identification and elimination of potential non-compliances that could result in consequences imposed by regulatory authorities.
- Fire Safety Instruction
The fire safety instruction is a document developed based on materials provided by the client, a local site visit, and current fire safety regulations.
Its goals are to:
- establish fire protection principles in the workplace,
- familiarize employees with the fire hazard situation,
- determine the principles, tasks, and responsibilities for fire protection, as well as procedures in case of a fire or other local threats.
WHAT DOES THE INSTRUCTION INCLUDE?
The instruction consists of:
- a descriptive part,
- a graphic part (placement of firefighting equipment, fire protection devices, evacuation signs, evacuation plan, site plan),
- annexes, such as an employee’s declaration of familiarity with the instruction, safety data sheets for hazardous substances, and other requirements.
WHAT SHOULD THE FIRE SAFETY INSTRUCTION CONTAIN?
The content of the fire safety instruction is regulated by the Regulation of the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of June 7, 2010, regarding fire protection of buildings, other construction facilities, and areas.
Owners, managers, or users of objects or their parts that constitute separate fire zones, intended for public utility, collective housing, production, storage, and inventory functions, provide and implement fire safety instructions containing:

3) procedures in case of a fire and other threats;
4) methods of securing work hazardous in terms of fire safety, if such work is planned;
5) conditions and organization of people’s evacuation and practical methods of checking them;
6) ways of acquainting users of the facility, including employed workers, with fire safety regulations and the content of this instruction;
7) tasks and responsibilities in the field of fire protection for individuals being their permanent users;

9) indication of persons or entities preparing instructions.
WHO CAN PREPARE THE FIRE SAFETY INSTRUCTION?
The fire safety instruction can be prepared by individuals who:
- have a title of fire safety engineer or a professional title of firefighting engineer,
- have a professional title of fire protection specialist and possess higher education,
- have obtained recognition of qualifications for the profession of firefighting engineer,
- have a professional title of firefighting technician,
- have a professional title of fire protection inspector and possess at least secondary education,
- have obtained recognition of qualifications for the profession of firefighting technician.
