The task of occupational health and safety supervision in the workplace is to monitor compliance with occupational health and safety rules and regulations. Thanks to this, the conditions in the plant are checked from time to time, as well as the compliance of employees with occupational health and safety regulations.
The need for occupational health and safety supervision in the workplace is directly stated in the Labor Code, which defines the role of the occupational health and safety service that provides it. If you don’t want to hire a full-time occupational health and safety (OHS) employee, you can entrust OHS tasks to an external specialist and hire a professional OHS supervisor from an external company.

OSH SUPERVISION IN A COMPANY – WHEN TO APPOINT A SAFETY COORDINATOR TO SUPERVISE WORK CONDITIONS?
A safety coordinator should be appointed wherever employees of different employers work in the same place and their work may pose a risk to each other. It does not matter whether the work carried out by different subcontractors is carried out on a construction site, in an industrial plant, or in an office building. It is important that individual employers establish rules of cooperation with each other in order to eliminate potential hazards and appoint a person (safety coordinator) who will oversee compliance with these arrangements.
The appointment of a safety and health coordinator is required by Article 208 § 1 of the Labor Code of June 26, 1974.
Ensuring occupational health and safety is one of the tasks performed by the occupational health and safety service, based on § 2. Regulations of the Council of Ministers of September 2, 1997, on occupational safety and health services:
The scope of activities of the occupational health and safety service includes: 1) conducting inspections of working conditions and compliance with occupational safety and health regulations and rules, with particular emphasis on workstations where pregnant or breastfeeding women, minors, the disabled, shift workers, including those working at night, and individuals performing work on a basis other than an employment relationship at the workplace or at a location designated by the employer are employed (…)
The fact of establishing the BHP service and the related regulations is also specified in the regulation:
,, § 1. An employer with 100 to 600 employees creates a multi-person or single-person cell or hires an occupational health and safety employee on a part-time basis.
An employer with more than 600 employees shall employ at least one occupational health and safety officer for every 600 employees on a full-time basis.”
Therefore, if you employ 100 or more employees, you are required to establish an occupational health and safety service at your facility.
